The Positive Place 3- Eco Warriors Making A Change In India

In the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, the government administrated a campaign to plant 20 million trees alongside the River Ganges as part of an initiative to cover a third of the nation in trees by 2030.

2 million peoples turned up on the first day of planting (socially distanced of course) showing just how important the environment and tacking climate change is to the people of India.

Many people from all walks of life came to plant the 20 million trees including volunteers, government workers and lawyers showing to us all how much can be done when people work together!

Tree planting, on a large scale, has been chosen as an easy and inexpensive method of tackling the ever-growing issue that is climate change, as it draws carbon from the atmosphere. Other countries are also planting millions of trees including Pakistan, Madagascar and Ethiopia.

Numerous countries are using 2030 as a deadline for sustainability goals to be met, which coincide with the UN’s 18 Sustainable Development Goals to solve the biggest problems the World faces, which include education, hunger pollution and poverty.

People like the 2 million in India and many others round the world who are determined to solve the issues we face today to make the World a better place tomorrow give us hope that we have the power to make positive changes and that we will succeed!
